How long until Google gets sued for pushing alcohol ads to minors? Hopefully soon.

Hi -

I worked as a PPC specialist at Google UK for 4 years during the main period of unprecedented growth.

I have just started a blog. Read it here:
http://www.absorbing.com/google-pay-per-click-best-practice-%E2%80%93-but-best-practice-for-who/

I'll be blogging regularly, on Google PPC from an 'insiders' perspective.

It was probably just a matter of time before this decision was made because of the slumping economy even Google feels the impact.

Lee - Thanks.

Quality score is kept at account level as well, so relating and historical CTR (of ads and keywords) will still be factored in. (Although obviously the new ads performance will be the main factor now).

Google places more emphasis on recent history or CTR data than long term data so by pausing or deleting ads you can make improvements quite quickly.

Always look forward to reading your blog, hoping to pick up the odd nugget or two! ;)

I've got a quick question: In adwords, if an ad is paused, is its ctr still taken into account for “quality score” purposes or only for the active ads? What about if the ad is deleted?

Cheers.

Interesting to see how shareholder pressures always trump ethical policies.

Gee, I'm surprised that Google hasn't also included some type of Health warning, in reference to Alcohol consumption !?!

Many of us have been actively attempting to convince our Government Officials, to implement
mandatory Health Warning Labels, on all liquor containers.
We've yet to receive a positive response !

As a recovering alcoholic now 20 months, trying to spread the warning, I've discovered there are many individuals out there, with afflictions, from my Grand-Mal Seizures, to complete rotted livers, near total deafness, blindness, and heart attacks. All, from Alcohol consumption, with no medical cures at this time, either ! And keep in mind, these are not dirt poor individuals either, but from backgrounds the same or similar to mine & my late husbands. Individuals who have never been drunk nor involved in this 'bingeing' either. But have their health destroyed because of it !!! In addition to the fact that most of them, have been too ashamed to speak out about it to others !
So, perhaps Google, could look at this side of our Alcohol consumption situtation. And add their own health warning to these ads ?!?
That would be of tremendous help !

Don't forget, our youth need to be warned,
otherwise, what's going to happen when all of us old farts are in nursing homes, being spoon fed & diapered, who's going to be fit enough to take over the many professions we've been holding down ???

May God help us all !!!!
