I would imagine there'll be many AdWords account holders who'll see this as a quick fix but think the concept pretty scary. It's bound to end in tears!

[...] The www.ppcblog.co.uk lays out details and a few screens shots about the optimizer. The Campaign Optimizer is a free AdWords tool designed to help you fine-tune your advertising campaigns. When you run the Campaign Optimizer, we automatically analyze your budget, keywords, and landing page, and create a customized proposal for your campaign. You can then review the proposed changes and accept the ones you want to apply. [...]

I agree Chris...

I'm not using Google conversion tracking on my account so I don't know what the recommendations might be if I did, but certainly from the suggestions I had they were based on getting more clicks. IE. Increasing CPC.

The other recommendation was to delete a few terms which had low CTR, but in fact actually had great return (although Google obviously didn't know that).

So it has some fairly big limitations.

I can see how it might be useful for those new to the program in some respects such as deleting generic 'broad' terms with low CTR, comparing and analysing adverts etc.

Although at the same time the new or amateur marketeer might be those most at risk and just agree to ramp up their CPC just because Google tells them too...!

I've tried this tool out - I wasn't that impressed, to be honest. I suppose it might be useful for very lazy marketers, but the optimisations it suggests are fairly sloppy and, unsurprisingly, tend to focus on upping bids and adding keywords!
