Interesting read, I have just about set up my ecommerce adviser blog now and struggle to sometimes find the motivation to make the posts. I put up one when I got started, its on a similar theme to this but perhaps will be slightly more general in the longer term.

The sharing the knowledge is definitly a source of motivation

I think that getting natural traffic from the search engines is much better than pay per click. Although it does take time, it can be done for next to nothing and building backlinks is easier than most people think.

You do realise these links are no followed ‘Search Engine Marketing’ don’t you?

IE. they carry no link juice.
