The official Google Blog has posted a independent study into their click fraud detection carried out by a Dr. Alexander Tuzhilin a professor at NYU as part of the Lane’s Gifts V. Google case settlement. The Google blog explains:
“We agreed with the plaintiffs to have an independent expert examine our detection methods, policies, practices, and procedures and make a determination of whether or not we had implemented reasonable measures to protect all of our advertisers”.
The full 47 page report can be found here. PPC Blog has yet to examine the full report, but it should be well worth having a look through to understand more about invalid click protection & Adwords systems.
The bottom line conclusion of the report is that Googles efforts to fight against click fraud are ‘reasonable’. Google appears more than happy with these findings from the survey, but it will be interesting to see what else comes out of the 47 page report when fully analysed.
The Google blog also links to an interesting interview carried out back in March by the “Business Product Manager for Trust & Safety” regarding invalid clicks and click fraud.
