I think there are some sites out there that can be &#039;optimised&#039; once and be successfull for a few years. But there&#039;s many more that require continuous work; whether it has new content that needs regular optimisation, link building / baiting, social media optimisation etc.

I think it&#039;s dependant on the site and probably equally so the competitive environment you are in. If a key competitor is employing a top seo in the long-term - you wouldn&#039;t want to be left behind.</description>

		<description>There does come a point when the site internal factors become tweaked to a high level but then search engines periodically update their algorithms and capabilities like Yahoo adding the NOODP tag yesterday. Who else keeps up with stuff like that except SEO?</description>
